Telehealth holds the promise to significantly impact some of the most challenging problems of our current healthcare system: access to care, cost effective delivery, and uneven distribution of limited providers. Delaware has an acute shortage of providers in more rural areas with limited public transportation and poor internet access. Equipped private library spaces can improve access professional health care providers and impact health outcomes. Increase access to legal, financial or immigration professionals and to use for job interviews. The telehealth/teleservice technology available in 12 libraries is underutilized. The goal will be to uncover and overcome the barriers to their use. The kiosks are also expanding their services to include legal, immigration and employment services as a private space to connect virtually.

Member Duties : The Telehealth/teleservices VISTA will meet extensively with the Delaware Libraries Telehealth Coordinator to learn more about the program and to meet with various stakeholders to devise ways to expand utilization of this new library service. Discovering barriers to use of this new technology is key to expanding its use. Not only is a private space available to our patrons but it is equipped with a navigator to help them with technology and offer wraparound services that they might need. The Telehealth VISTA will develop performance tracking programs to measure success. This VISTA should work closely with the Healthy Futures and Mental/Behavioral Health VISTAs to identify opportunities for coordination that will support all three projects.
